Process

A good reporter always writes an article that is factual, grammatically correct, and properly cited.  It is your assignment to bring your journalistic and historical research skills together to compose an article on a specific era of the women’s suffrage movement.

Historical Overview of the Women’s Suffrage Movement

Assignment

  • You will be assigned to a group of three students
  • Review the waves of women’s suffrage movement
  • As a group, you will decide which time period you would like to report on

    Individual Assignment

  • Each member will choose one of these journalistic responsibilities
    • Legal Reporter–Will write an article on the legal issues of the time period
    • Photojournalist Reporter–Will write an article on a photo/picture of the time period
    • Interview Reporter–Will write a biographical article with one of the main suffrage or anti-suffrage supporters of the time period
  • In writing your article you may find it useful to analyze your role by following the Research Guide.
  • The formatting information can be found on the Article Requirements Page
  • Articles are due by the 3rd Day of the Webquest

    Group Assignment

  • Once the articles have been written, you will reconvene as a group
  • As a group, you will assemble a newspaper
  • The newspaper must have a title, all group articles, a suffrage or anti-suffrage poster, and date
  • This newspaper can be created using Powerpoint, Prezi, IMovie, or in a traditional newspaper format

  • As a group, you will present the issues discussed in your newspaper to the class in a 15 minute presentation
